Remember to plan for your care and recovery after the operation, especially if you are going to have general anesthesia. Allow time for rest and find people to help you with your day-to-day duties and care for you for at least the first week at home.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Follow all instructions given to you by your surgeon.
- If you change your plans to have surgery, please call your surgeon. Pre-admission nurses (305)285-2992
- Mercy Hospital is located at 3669 South Miami Avenue. Parking is available in the Parking Garage of the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital for your appointment, please report to the Surgical Lobby on the 2nd floor (if any time changes occur we will notify you the afternoon before your surgery day).
- DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING after midnight prior to the day of surgery unless specifically instructed to do so by your physician. THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
- Do not wear jewelry, wigs, nail polish, hairpins or contact lenses unless specifically instructed by your surgeon. Makeup should be kept to a minimum. If your wear dentures or prosthesis, please inform the Nursing Staff upon your arrival in the clinical area.
- Please leave all valuables at home (i.e. jewelry, credit cards, etc).
- Please wear loose fitting clothing which requires minimal assistance in dressing and undressing.
- Bring with you insurance papers, permits, laboratory results, X-rays, instructions given by your surgeon, and medical clearance (if required).
