The Orthopaedic Institute at Mercy Hospital, a campus of Plantation General Hospital is headed by Medical Director Dr. Carlos J. Lavernia, and Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. J. Pieter Hommen, who leads the Sports Medicine division. The Institute is located in the Outpatient Center of Mercy Hospital. A private, non-for-profit corporation an one of the top health systems in the United States.
